Invited lecture at the University of Donja Gorica and NCC for HPC in Montenegro

In October 2024, Professor Mladen Kezunovic presented an invited talk on “Risk Management of Future Large-Scale Electrification” at the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro. The talk explored the challenges of integrating large-scale electrification into modern power grids, focusing on strategies to mitigate risks and enhance reliability. By addressing the role of innovative technologies and robust planning, the presentation highlighted key approaches to building resilient and sustainable energy systems for the future.

Attendees gained insight into an essential case study on the State-of-Risk-Prediction for grid outages, shedding light on the shift toward a risk-informed control and protection paradigm. The discussion discussed on a holistic approach encompassing IT management, big data, interoperability, and high-performance computing, emphasizing the necessity of AI and HPC tools for advancing data analytics and AI-powered solutions in electrification.

Talk at Tesla Days at the Institute Nikola Tesla in Belgrade, Serbia

In June 2024, Professor Mladen Kezunovic delivered an invited talk on “Risk Management of Future Large-Scale Electrification” during Tesla Days at the Institute Nikola Tesla in Belgrade, Serbia. The talk addressed the challenges of integrating large-scale electrification into power systems, emphasizing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure grid reliability. Highlighting innovative technologies and forward-thinking approaches, the presentation underscored the importance of resilience and sustainability in the transition to electrified energy systems.

Invited talk at INESC TEC in Porto

In May 2024, Professor Mladen Kezunovic delivered two impactful invited talks in Porto, Portugal, focusing on advancing power systems through technology. At the NESC-TEC Forum, he discussed “Risk Management of Future Large-Scale Electrification,” addressing the challenges of integrating large-scale electrification into existing grids while mitigating risks. At the INESC TEC Technical Meeting, he presented “The Role of ML and AI in Managing Forced Outages in Power Systems,” showcasing how machine learning and AI enhance grid reliability by predicting and managing outages. Both talks highlighted innovative strategies for building smarter, more resilient energy infrastructures.
